'CC looks absolutely brilliant. And the logo is just fantastic'
Mark Jarmuz's new online counselling website uses the ukTherapy managed counselling system.

A website should reflect who you are and what you have to offer, and so we will take time to ensure that you are happy with your site before it goes live, and before we ask you to pay anything, apart from a small deposit up front!

mariaPopova.co.uk
Maria Popova's new website is also integrated with ukTherapy's managed online counselling system.
'I had a look and I have to say it looks very professional.'

'It is a very clever system and looks good.'

Our basic package includes a 5 page site which we will design and set up for you based on your preferred styles and colours. Your images can be included if you wish, or we can suggest images that fit the style of the site.

anandaThaiYogaMassage.co.uk
Maggie Guy asked for 'A modern look, with some Thai or Yoga references'.
'I appreciate all the work you've put into this and you came back with a beautiful page so quickly.'

All our sites are developed with a Content Management System (CMS) that allows you to log on at any time to change the text on your site, add images, post details of forthcoming courses etc. There is no extra charge for making these changes.

Promoting Your Website

Getting Started

A web site is just like a phone number. People have to know about it before they can call. If you get a phone line and wait for it to ring, the only person that will call is someone try to sell YOU something. To get CUSTOMERS to call, you want your name and phone number listed in as many places as possible. A web site works the same way.

Search Engines

It's easy to get the top spot with the search engines. If you register a site about six foot tall spotted pink spiders, and fill it full of descriptions of these animals, information on how to care for them, tips on what they like to eat etc, you are sure to rank number one on Google for the search term 'Six Foot Spotted Pink Spider'.

Beware the Six-Foot Spotted Pink Spider! This is of course because no-one else is interested in spotted pink spiders. There is no competition.

Below your site will be all the sites about ordinary spiders, and sites about pink spots.

The spider example shows that your success at getting a top position really depends on the keywords that you want for your site and the number of sites that are competing to show up for those words.

For example, you probably won't get the top spot for something as general as 'Acupuncture', but you could stand a chance with 'Acupuncture North London'.

Content

Content is the single most important factor when it comes to ranking well with the search engines. After all, the job of a search engine is to deliver relevant content to its visitors.

So if you offer acupuncture in North London, the words 'Acupuncture' and 'North London' must appear on your site several times for the search engines to consider YOUR site to be the most relevant when a visitor searches for 'Acupuncture North London'.

If the Heading on your web page reads: 'Joe Blogg's Acupuncture Clinic in North London', and the text below has references to Acupuncture and North London, then it's likely you will be placed near the top.

Of course it's likely that an acupuncture directory that lists several practitioners based in North London will appear above your site. Simply because it contains more CONTENT. More references to our keywords.

Keeping your content fresh is important. Details of courses that you ran last year should be removed! Search engines like sites that update often.

FACT : Most of the top Internet search engines are now accepting payments to get a premium listing. If you have a marketing budget you can get premium listings at a very affordable price.

FACT : The fastest search engine only updates its search results every 3 weeks. So you can't expect to see your site in the search engines any sooner than that. Some search engines will take months to list your site.

You will get traffic from the search engines, but it does take time and patience.

Link Exchanges

Links are very important when it comes to search engine rankings. If another site links to yours, the search engines interpret this as a 'vote of confidence' from the owner of the other site.

FACT: If you can get other site owners to link their site to yours, your search engine rankings will improve.

A simple way to get visitors to your site is to exchange links with other sites that are related to your business. Create a links page that features links to relevant sites. Then swap links. You link to the other site, the other site links to you. It's a win-win solution.

As well as improving your search engine ranking by exchanging links, you are much more likely to make a sale from a visitor from a related site than from a search engine. Visitors are already interested in your industry and they came from a related site, giving you instant credibility.

It's a good idea to create a standard email that you can send to the owner of any website that you find that seems relevant. Something along the lines of:

Dear <Name>,

I found your website http://www.yoursite.com and would like to exchange links with you.

Please place a link to my site (http://www.mysite.com) on your links page...

etc. etc.

In our experience most website owners are happy to exchange links, but bear in mind you should only exchange links with sites that are related to yours, and stay away from 'Link Farms' - sites that contain nothing more than a huge list of links to other sites. The search engines consider these to be 'bad neighbourhoods', and could penalise your site for linking to them.

Directories

There are many directories on the web, listing everything you can imagine. Some charge a fee, some are free, and others require that you link back to them. It's worth taking time to list your site with as many as possible. Directories often rank well with the search engines, thanks to the huge amount of content they publish, and so they receive a correspondingly large number of visitors.

Every link to your site from a directory will also raise your visibility with the search engines.

It's easy to find directories - just Google for 'Health Directory' or similar.

Offline Advertising

If people see your details in two or three different contexts they will subconsciously consider you to be more credible. So it's important to include your web address in all your offline advertising. Newspaper adverts, fliers and business cards should all carry your web address. Potential clients who see your advertising will likely visit your website to read more about your services.

Often clients won't really know where they heard about you. But if they have seen your name in more place than one, and read about you online, they are more likely to contact you.
