Online Counselling - Benefits

.: benefits :: find a counsellor :: for counsellors :: clients sign in :: counsellors sign in :.

Convenience

Online counselling takes place at a time convenient to you with no notice required, you just log on to the website and type a message whenever it suits you. Having to take the time to write out your questions focuses you on what you want to say and reading through your counsellor's reply, at a time that suits you, gives you some quiet time to study and absorb the response.

Quick Response

Whenever you post a message through the site your counsellor will be notified by email, and will usually reply within 48 hours, excluding Sundays.

Record of Consultation

Online counselling provides you with an on-going record of all consultations, allowing you to revisit and review issues. This revisting can also give you a useful overview.

Anonymity

Being in your own environment and in your own time without being face to face with a counsellor can often provide greater freedom.

Control of How Much You Spend

The way the payment is structured (£35 per 1000 words you write) means that this can be the most cost effective approach to counselling. Online Counselling also saves in other ways; there's no need for an appointment... no need to leave home... no transport costs... no need to take time off work...

WARNING

In spite of the above list of good reasons for choosing Online Counselling there are some situations where it would not be appropriate. Some of these are:

  • If you are actively contemplating suicide.
  • If you are in a dangerous crisis where you, or somebody close to you is at risk of injury.
  • In such instances, contacting your doctor, police or a crisis group such as The Samaritans would offer you better help than I could counselling over the internet.

Online Counselling is not suitable for everyone.

Getting Started

If you want to start Online Counselling pleas view the list of counsellors offering their services through ukTherapy.

Send a message to your counsellor of choice with some brief information about yourself. It's not necessary to go into too much detail if you don't want to, a sentence or two about your issues and what you think you want to work on will be fine to start.

Cost

As short messages only take a short time to read and reply to the charges for online counselling are based upon the length of your messages.

This way, you will know in advance how much it will cost to send a message by its length.

You will not be charged for your counsellor's replies!

Paying for Words

You can purchase words in blocks of 1000 words which are added to any existing words you may have already bought. You can use these up whenever you like by sending messages.

The number of words in your message is simply deducted from your exisisting Word Balance.

Your Word Balance can be topped up at any time, with one block of 1000 words at £35.

Larger blocks of words are progressively discounted.

If you write quite short messages, a single block of 1000 words might be enough for 3 messages, while if you like to write a great deal at once, you might need a whole block just for one message.

The word count for your message will be displayed on the site as you type.

You Word Balance will not expire, as long as our counselling relationship continues.

A full refund for any unused words will be given at any time as long as the total value exceeds £2. Refunds can be made via Paypal or by cheque.
