This is a cognitive/behavioral technique that aims to teach clients to express their feelings and needs rather than being passive and letting other people take advantage, overwhelm, or dominate them (This can be characteristic, for example, of people who were abused in childhood). After identifying problem situations with the therapist, the client practices appropriate confrontation.
