 ABOUT ME

I am a humanistic integrative therapist, using TA as my prime theoretical model, to which  I incorporate a Person-Centred Approach, Gestalt Theory and Egan's Process Model.  These models complement each other both philosophically and theoretically.

I believe that, given the right circumstances and support, people can make the changes they need in order to enhance their potential.  My approach is holistic, in that I am interested in "the whole person", and I often encourage clients to examine aspects of their overall lifestyle such as health, diet and exercise, to assist and support the psychological and emotional changes they are making.

HUMANISTIC VALUES

  •       I believe that all humans are worthy of respect and acceptance.
  •       Given the right conditions and circumstances human beings have an innate tendency towards positive growth and self-actualisation.
  •       Human beings are capable of thought and choice, and therefore responsibility.

MY EXPERIENCE

My experience includes working with adults and teenagers, in both private practice and voluntary settings, covering a broad range of issues.

In addition to counselling and supervising, I have also taught various training workshops for counsellors and student counsellors.

I offer individual, couples and group therapy.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Sessions are usually on a weekly basis and last fifty minutes for individual sessions, sixty minutes for couples sessions.  The total number  will depend on your individual needs and aims.

Sessions usually take place in my therapy roooms in Crowborough.

A confidentiality contract is agreed at the start of psychotherapy and counselling.

Terms of business are discussed and agreed during our initial consultation.

FREE INITIAL CONSULTATION

I offer an initial consultation at which we can discuss your needs and decide whether we wish to work together.  This meeting will be free of charge.

DO YOU SUFFER FROM

     Emotional Problems?

          Difficulties in Relationships?

A poor sense of self or low self-esteem?

                    Unhelpful patterns of behaviour?

GROUP THERAPY COULD BE THE ANSWER

Group therapy offers an opportunity to discuss your problems and difficulties in a supportive, yet challenging environment, with the help of an experienced and non-judgmental therapist, in safe comfortable surroundings.

Group therapy can help you develop greater insight and understanding of yourself, and how you relate to other people.  It can help you gain knowledge of how your past affects how you live now in the present.  Other group members may spot aspects of your personality that you are unaware of, and bring these to your attention.  A group can also help you to identify and build on your strengths and inner resources.  You can grow your self-esteem and confidence, and learn ways to take better care of yourself.

Group therapy offers the opportunity to consider the changes you may wish to make in order to enhance your life, and help you decide how best to achieve them.  You can then begin to make the changes with the ongoing therapeutic support of the therapist and other group members.

I run a Therapy Group in Crowborough, which meets weekly on Monday evenings between 7.30 and 9.30pm.

HOW TO JOIN THE GROUP:

If you are interested in joining the Group, please contact me to arrange an appointment for us to meet and discuss your needs, and what you are looking for from group therapy.

Prior to being accepted into the group, you will need to spend approximately half a dozen sessions in individual therapy with me.  This is to assess whether group therapy would be appropriate for you, and  to build and establish a good therapeutic relationship between us.
